This list of books covers topics ranging from self-awareness and growth to career and life transitions.

FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY
Susan Jeffers

This is one of my favorite books.  Jeffers explains how fear is based on the uncertainty of change and the lack of positive self -image.  She believes that choices are not opportunities to make mistakes, but valid paths to growth, whichever path we take.  Her view is that the underlying cause of fear is “I can’t handle it”.

NOW WHAT! 90 DAYS TO A NEW LIFE DIRECTION
Laura Berman Fortgang

Now What! is full of inspiring and empowering exercises and tools.
Fortgang guides readers through a 90 day process for finding and pursuing satisfaction and fulfillment.

THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE
Robert Fritz

Discover the steps of creating what you truly love and how to focus on the creative process to move from where you are to where you want to be.  You will be amazed when you learn about some of Fritz’s findings.

TAMING YOUR GREMLIN
Rick Carson

Your gremlin is that chatterbox in your head who is always with you throughout your entire existence.  He tells you who you are and he interprets every experience that you have.  Carson shares techniques on how to deal with your gremlin which include “simply notice”, “choose and play with options” and “be in process”.  The caricatures throughout the book do a great job of making the gremlin feel alive.

WHO MOVED MY CHEESE?
Spencer Johnson

A short, but powerful read about dealing with change in your work and life. The main characters are four mice who live in a maze and look for “cheese” to nourish and make them happy.  This enlightening book is an easy read that can be done in under an hour.

MAKING A CHANGE FOR GOOD
Cheri Huber

Huber’s guide to compassionate self discipline teaches us that no form
of self punishment will bring us happiness or solve our problems.  She
believes that self acceptance and kindness toward ourselves is the remedy. Positive steps in life can be found by simply being present and aware.

THE ART OF POSSIBILITY
Rosamund and Stone Zander

The Zander’s premise is that many of the circumstances that seem to block us in our daily lives only appear to do so based on a framework of assumptions that we carry with us.  Once you change the frame, those circumstances and the path they follow suddenly look very different. Each chapter presents a different facet to this approach.

STRENGTHS FINDER 2.0
Tom Rath

Strengths Finder 2.0 is a personalized strengths finding and action planning guide.  This new version is a follow up to StrengthsFinder which was released in 2001 by Gallup.  The scientists from Gallup including the late Donald Clifton and Tom Rath discovered that people  have a much greater potential for growth when they focus on developing their strengths instead of trying to fix their weaknesses.  I highly recommend this assessment in conjunction with the book.

THE DAMN GOOD RESUME GUIDE
Yana Parker

Ten easy steps for putting together a damn good resume.  The guide includes sample letters, how to submit resumes over the internet, networking opportunities and feedback from a panel of employers indicating what they want and don’t want to see in a resume.
